Beach and Rock
Dee Why, Narrabeen and Mona Vale beaches all have nice sized winter bream as well as some large whiting to 40cm. Fish the deeper gutters an hour either side of high or low tide for best results and use beach worms or peeled Hawkesbury prawn.
Some decent sized tailor have also been taken at Narrabeen beach at dusk using pilchards on ganged hooks.
Narrabeen Lake
The Ocean St bridge area has produced some good flathead and bream with bream to 36cm and flathead around the 60-65 cm range. Use squid or mullet strips for both species.
Jameison Park area has also produced some good catches of bream on Hawkesbury prawns.
Offshore
Good reports of Yellowfin tuna and Albacore out on the 12-mile marks and around Browns Mountain which is also holding some large blue eyes.
Broken Bay wide has also seen some yellowfin action.
Newport Reef in close has continued to produce some big kings as has White Rock at Long Reef. Fresh green-eyed squid is by far the best bait.
Some big snapper have been taken at Broken Bay Wide and Esmeraldas with fresh squid strips accounted for the better sized fish.
Plenty of Flathead are on the drift in the 40m marks off Palm Beach and off the Hospital at Mona Vale. Use half pilchards or strips of mullet for best results.
Pittwater
Some good bream are around Church Point being caught on both prawns and worms.
Tailor are hanging around Palm Beach to Barrenjoey and can be targeted using small 10-20 gram metal lures or trolled on diving minnow type lures.
Trevally are in great numbers throughout Pittwater with good reports from The Basin, Elvina Bay, Stokes Point and Scotland Island ( western side ). You will need to get a good burley going to attract them but once you’ve got them interested use peeled prawns on a light outfit and enjoy the fun.
Flathead and flounder have taken drifting off Mackerel Beach. They are taking pilchards baits, vibes, and soft plastics.
