Fishing Report – 26 June 2026

Rocks
The rock fishing continues to be very good with excellent catches of blackfish and drummer being taken on most ledges. There are few snapper being caught as well.
Avalon (both north and south headlands) and Bilgola are holding good numbers of bream in the washes close to the rocks.
Bonito and trevally are being taken at Curl Curl along with the odd kingfish being landed.
As always, be extremely careful when rock fishing and have all of the appropriate safety gear and an exit plan should you get washed in. No fish is worth your life!
Beaches
Some large jewfish have been taken at both Palm Beach and Bilgola using fresh green-eyed squid. The corners at Bilgola and Avalon have also seen some nice bream landed using prawns and tuna strip baits. The southern end of Newport Beach has also produced some good bream.
Winter whiting are still being caught on our larger open beaches with some extra-large fish in the mix. Try the gutters at mid Curl Curl or Long Reef -Dee Why on live or quality preserved worms.
Salmon are around on the bigger open beaches best targeted at dusk and dawn, and into the evening using pilchards or fresh mullet strips.
Narrabeen Lake
The lake’s entrance is fairly skinny at the moment restricting the tidal flow in and out of the lake. Despite this, it is still fishing well for flathead and bream. There are some decent whiting around as well – worms being the best bait.
Try around Jamieson Park and Pipeclay Point for flathead and off Berry Reserve for bream. Try around the caravan park for whiting and flathead.
Offshore
The ocean water temp is between 19 and 20 degrees. The offshore fishing has been great with a mixture of summer and winter species on offer during this crossover period.
Long Reef produced some good snapper in close at the wall and white rock.
Some quality snapper have been taken in good numbers at Esmerelda and Broken Bay wide. Fresh squid fished into a berley trail has accounted for the better fish. There are also some big schools of large tailor hanging around the wider reefs.
Dee Why Wreck has some decent sized trevally and large tailor hanging around.
The 40m mark drift off Mona Vale has produced some good catches of flathead.
Pittwater
Try around West Head, Barrenjoey headland, and Flint and Steel for salmon and tailor that have been in good numbers during the week. Flint and Steel has also produced some large flathead and jewfish on live mullet.
Bayview and the McCarr’s Creek area has produced some nice bream and trevally during the week using extra light gear and peeled Hawkesbury prawns.
Winter School Holiday Fishing Classes
Keep the kids active and engaged during the next school holidays with our junior fishing classes. These two-hour classes will be held at Narrabeen Lake and are run by our team of expert anglers giving your kids skills and knowledge that help them become better anglers. All bait and gear is provided. Limited spaces available.
