Rocks

The big seas have kept most anglers off the ledges in recent days however fishing will be very good when the swell settles.

Blackfish and drummer are in good numbers off most of the ledges.

As always, be extremely careful when rock fishing and have all of the appropriate safety gear and an exit plan should you get washed in. No fish is worth your life !

Beaches

Prior to the big swells, some large whiting were in good numbers at Dee Why, Curl Curl and Palm Beach. There should be some great gutters after the seas settle done and these should be targeted for whiting, bream and salmon with the chance a mulloway.

Narrabeen Lake

“Goody” has been holidaying at Narrabeen from the Southern Highlands and has been fishing the lake every day. He’s been getting plenty of bream and was lucky to catch a whiting which measured 47cm (sorry no photo).  Amazingly, he was using pilchards for bait.

There have been some nice flathead taken at Jamieson Park and off Berry Reserve using mullet strips and small yellowtail.

The recent rain will stir things up in the lake and it should be good fishing over the next few weeks. Try Jamieson Park, Pipeclay Point and the Middle bridge area for bream and flathead with best bait being Hawkesbury prawns or 3” Bait Junkie soft plastics. These lures work really well. They will often account for jewfish as well so a very versatile option for fishing the lake,

If all fails and you don’t catch anything, go and see Phil, Steve and the team at the fish and chip shop at North Narrabeen.

Offshore

No offshore reports this week due to unfavorable sea conditions.

Pittwater

NBT regular Grover has been bagging out on Tailor in Pittwater. There are schools of fish to 45cm near the Plam Beach wharf as well as bust ups between Palm Beach and Mackerel Beach. The schools in the middle of the channel have bonito below the tailor and kingfish below the bonito.

The wreck at Avalon has been holding good schools of salmon and the odd large kingfish. Kingfish are also around Stokes Point and off Mackerel Beach. Fresh green-eyed squid is a must if you want to target these.

One of our young anglers, Harry, has been catching kings and bonito from the wharf at Church Point. This is a great land-based option particularly at sunrise and has been fishing very well over the past month.

The Church Point and Sandy Beach area have also produced some nice bream using Hawkesbury prawns.

Some decent flathead have been caught on the flats at Bayview and up into Browns Bay. Fish are being caught on both pilchards and soft plastics.
