Beaches
With a bit more sunshine this week more anglers have been hitting the beaches in search of a feed. There have been some good reports of large sea bream coming from North Narrabeen and Collaroy beaches. There have also been some large schools of salmon hanging around Narrabeen beach in close. These can be targeted using small metal lures or pilchard baits.
There are some nice whiting around now, not in huge numbers, but they are good sized fish. Try the gutters on Queenscliff and Dee Why beaches using beach worms.
Rocks
The luderick are in good numbers off most of the rock ledges as are salmon and some large trevally. Those chasing the trevally have also encountered some nice bream and the odd snapper. Try Dee Why Headland for the trevally and bream using peeled prawns.
There are also some nice kingfish been taken at Queenscliff and Curl Curl on spinners and the new Bait Junkie 5.5” Wave Minnows.
As always – Safety first ! We stock life jackets, clip on rock spikes, and boots.
Narrabeen Lake
The lake is fishing well at the moment with reasonable catches of bream and flathead being caught during the week.
The Pittwater Rd bridge area is a popular spot to fish with plenty of reports of flathead and bream being caught. Other areas to try is around Wimbledon Ave, Jamieson Park, and Billarong Reserve.
Best baits are prawns, mullet fillets, and pilchards. Soft plastics and vibes have also accounted for plenty of fish. Come in and talk to our team and we’ll show you the best lures to try.
Offshore
A trip out to the 12-mile reef yielded some good fishing during the week with some quality snapper, pearl perch, and several kingfish in the 100cm+ size. Whole squid accounted for most fish as well as jigs for the kings.
Long Reef also fished well during the week with Snapper to 3kg taken in close around white rock. Dee Why wreck also fished well for snapper. All fish were taken on squid and pilchard baits and plenty of berley was required to get them on the bite.
Newport reef has some solid kingfish in the 15-20m depths. They can’t resist some fresh green-eyed squid.
Pittwater
Tailor and salmon are schooling up around Barrenjoey Headland as well as off Mackerel Beach and Portuguese beach. These can be caught using small metal lures cranked fast back to the boat.
The trevallys are still in reasonable numbers around the moorings with plenty of berley required to get them on the bite then very lightly weighted baits drifted down the berley trail.
There were also some great flathead been taken recently on the drift between Barrenjoey and Palm Beach and off Sandy Beach. Mullet strips and pilchards weer the preferred baits.
Blue swimmer crabs are around too with some nice crabs taken at Clareville and Sandy Beach.
