Beaches
The beaches are starting to fire up as the weather gets warmer. Some decent whiting are showing up between South Narrabeen and Collaroy all taken on beach worms. Whiting have also been showing up at North Narrabeen and Dee Why beaches.
Tailor and salmon are in good numbers mainly in the evening at Freshwater, Queenscliff, Narrabeen and Collaroy. Use pilchards and gang hooks for best results.
There were some good Jewfish up to 5kg caught during the week at Cooks Terrace and North Narrabeen. Fresh green eye squid are the gun bait for targeting jews.
Rocks
Not many reports this week due to the conditions however one of our customers has been catching Salmon are in good numbers off Curl Curl.
Narrabeen Lake
There were plenty of flathead caught during the week from several places around the lake. The Pittwater Rd bridge area and Woolies carpark area have both seen some decent on both baits and soft plastics been caught.
Bream are being caught up around Deep Creek and Middle Creek as well as on the flats near Jamieson Park on prawns and soft plastics.
There are plenty of mullet in the lake at the moment and these have been caught in good number up the back of the lake near the Sports academy. Fresh mullet are a good eating fish and also make great bait.
There are still small jewfish being caught in the early evening near the Pittwater Road bridge on both soft plastics and squid baits.
Offshore
Flathead have been taken in reasonable numbers drifting at the 40m mark off Mona Vale Hospital and on the drifts adjacent to the Barrenjoey lighthouse. Fresh mullet strips and half pilchards are the best baits to try.
Some decent snapper (2-3kg) were taken in close near white rock at Long Reef as well as Bolton’s Reef which has squire and some large tailor.
Kingfish are showing up in good numbers at the 12-mile reef.
Newport Reef in close are active-feeding schools of long-tail tuna chasing bait fish right onto the beaches and rocks. They have also been reported at the entrance of Broken Bay, Broken Bay wide, and at Esmarelda Reef.
Pittwater
Schools of Salmon are still schooling up around Barrenjoey Headland, off Mackerel Beach and West Head. These can be caught using small metal lures (3-10g) cranked back to the boat.
Live Bait coming soon
